Professor Yorgos Christidis is a faculty member in the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies at the University of Macedonia. He studied Political Science and International Relations at Panteion University (1991) and earned a Master’s degree in Middle Eastern Politics (1993) as well as a PhD in Political Science from the University of Exeter, UK (1998). His research focuses on the contemporary political history of the Balkans, minority issues, and international relations in Southeastern Europe. Since autumn 2023, he has served as Director of the POLIS Laboratory.

Professor Kyriakos Kentrotis specializes in EU Foreign Relations in the Department of Balkan, Slavic & Oriental Studies at the University of Macedonia. He graduated from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, completed postgraduate studies at the Europa-Institut, Saarland University, and earned a PhD in Political Science from the University of Kaiserslautern. His research focuses on international politics, European integration, EU foreign policy, and Southeastern Europe. He has led postgraduate programs, served as Department Chair, participated in administrative bodies, and directed the POLIS Laboratory. He is the author of influential books and numerous articles in international journals, widely cited in the field.Google ScholarHis complete works are available at Academia.edu and in the website of the University of Macedonia.

Professor Nikos Marantzidis, born in 1966 in Thessaloniki, has been a faculty member in the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies at the University of Macedonia since 1996. He studied Sociology at Paris-VII and Paris-X Universities and holds two postgraduate degrees (DEA) as well as a PhD in Political Sociology (1994). He has served as a visiting professor at the University of Chicago, Charles University (Prague), and the University of Kerala (India). Since 2008, he has directed the Public Opinion and Market Research Unit at UoM. His research interests include political behavior, public opinion, the Greek and international communist movements, and the Greek Civil War. He has published numerous articles in Greek and international scholarly journals and books, most recently Under Stalin’s Shadow: A Global History of Greek Communism (Cornell University Press, 2023), which has been translated into Greek as Στη Σκιά του Στάλιν (Alexandria Publishing), reflecting the international impact of his research.

Tsitselikis Konstantinos

      Academic Area: International Organizations and the Institutional Framework for the Protection of Human Rights

Professor Konstantinos Tsitselikis has been a faculty member in the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies at the University of Macedonia since 2004 and served as Dean of the School of Economic and Regional Studies from 2017 to 2023. He teaches courses on human rights, minorities, migration, refugees, and international law. He has also taught and collaborated with universities in France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Finland, Turkey, Italy, and other countries. Professor Tsitselikis is the author of books, studies, and articles, a member of research teams, and an expert and coordinator of programs on related topics. He has worked with the Council of Europe and collaborated with the European Commission, the United Nations, and the OSCE on missions related to human rights protection and democratization. He is a member of the Secretariat of the Center for Research on Minority Groups and served as President of the Hellenic League for Human Rights (2011–2017, www.hlhr.gr ). Since 2004, he has represented cases before the European Court of Human Rights.

                        Armakolas Ioannis 

Associate Professor Nikolaos Zaikos specializes in International Law in the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies at the University of Macedonia. He holds a PhD in Law with a specialization in Public International Law (1997, summa cum laude) from the Faculty of Law, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Research Interests: History and theory of international law, the law of war, the Holocaust and genocides – legal and historical perspectives, and institutions, history, and politics of sports. Selected Academic Activities: Member of the Joint Interdisciplinary Expert Committee of Greece–North Macedonia on historical, archaeological, and educational matters. Participation in scholarly conferences in Greece and abroad. Publications: He has authored five monographs and numerous extensive studies published in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes in Greek, English, and German.

Karakatsanis Leonidas

Leonidas Karakatsanis is Assistant Professor of Comparative Politics at the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies, University of Macedonia (Thessaloniki, Greece) and a Honorary Fellow of the British Institute at Ankara. He is a political scientist by training with a deep interest in qualitative research, ethnography, and discourse analysis. He holds a PhD from the Ideology & Discourse Analysis program of the University of Essex. His research interests include the politics of culture, contentious politics and the study of borders and nationalism, while his research work focuses on the role of civil society in conflict transformation and the management of alterity. The geographical remit of his expertise is Southeastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean with a special comparative interest in Turkey, Greece and Cyprus. He is the author of the research monograph Turkish-Greek Relations. Rapprochement, Civil Society and the Politics of Friendship (Routledge, 2014) and co-editor of The Politics of Culture in Turkey, Greece and Cyprus. Performing the Left since the Sixties (Routledge, 2017).
